At the heart of the Astronomy Discovery Center is a mesmerizing, three-story art installation called the ‘Origins Gallery’ that brings 13.8 billion years of cosmic evolution to life. Inspired by Dr. Deidre Hunter’s profound question—“How did we go from this Big Bang with nothing but some atoms and dark matter, to the incredible Earth we live on today?—this Origins Gallery invites visitors on an immersive journey.

Through awe-inspiring visuals, cinematic effects, and a poetic soundtrack, the installation is a looping odyssey that takes us from the farthest satellite view of the sky to the tiniest microscopic organisms. By witnessing the Universe’s vast beginnings to Earth’s intricate ecosystems, the profound interconnectedness of life leaves contemplative remarks for audiences to ponder. Cutting-edge technology and multisensory storytelling captivate visitors of all ages, making this a centerpiece for discovery, inspiration, and engagement.

This installation ignites curiosity and invites guests to ponder humanity’s place in the universe, encouraging guests to embark on their own journey of exploration and co-discovery at Lowell. It’s not just a sculpture—it’s an experience that educates, moves, and inspires.
