This fully immersive gallery is designed for toddlers to pre-teens. Led by Marzee and Pluie, two playful characters, children will learn about basic scientific principles and how these relate to the field of astronomy. Activities include a rocket launcher, a climbing space station, light tables, and more!

The Orbits Curiosity Zone (OCZ) at Lowell Observatory is an engaging science gallery designed to inspire children, from toddlers to early teens, through immersive, age-tailored experiences. At the front of the exhibit, Marzee’s Playground offers a safe area for exploration catering to toddlers under two. Adjacent to it is Pluie’s Place, a cozy zone for children aged 2-5, where they can enjoy reading pods and quieter spaces to rest.

For ages 5 to 12, the OCZ features hands-on exhibits demonstrating scientific concepts tied to space. Marzee and Pluie, two lively, space-themed characters, guide young learners through each display, connecting each principle to real world astronomy.

Toward the back, a climbing structure resembling a space station blends physical play with problem-solving. Designed with inclusivity and accessibility in mind, the OCZ incorporates insights from the Exploratorium’s “Exhibit Design for Girls’ Engagement” and goes well above the minimum ADA standards. The OCZ is poised to inspire our future scientists.
